Bent Down the Heavens

VERSE 1
You bent down the heavens,
Your feet touched the ground,
To show where the kingdom
Of God can be found.
A new way of living,
Abundant and free.
Lord Jesus Christ,
Have mercy on me.
I’m tangled in ropes
Of sin and distress,
Tied up in knots
Of my brokenness.
You heard my cry,
My desperate plea—
Lifted my head,
Loosened the thread,
And set me free.
VERSE 2
You walked on the water,
You spoke to the storm,
For even the tempest
To you will conform.
All nature obeys you—
The wind and the sea.
Lord Jesus Christ,
Have mercy on me.
I’m drowning in floods
Of sin and distress,
Wave after wave
Of my brokenness.
You heard my cry
When I’d almost drowned,
Grabbed both the oars,
Rowed me to shore,
To level ground.
VERSE 3
You bled for the dying,
Then with your last breath,
You granted forgiveness,
Grace even in death.
Oh, blameless Messiah,
I’m learning to see.
Lord Jesus Christ,
Your mercy on me.
I’m brimming with hope,
I’m starting to sing.
I’m learning to trust
In my risen King.
For you heard my cry,
Leapt off of your throne,
Ran to my aid
When I was afraid,
And brought me home.
